Mission

These performances present a diverse range of world music and jazz traditions, highlighting their historical and cultural roots. Each event is a multi-sensory experience that goes beyond a standard concert. We partner with local catering services that specialize in authentic culinary dishes from the featured cultures, providing a tangible and delicious point of connection for attendees. The goal is to move beyond passive observation and inspire meaningful dialogue, demonstrating the common threads that connect diverse cultures. Upcoming performances are planned for Spring 2026 and Summer 2026. Featured artists for Winter and Spring of 2026 are:

Ulung Tanoto: Jazz and Indonesian Music, Wed May 6-2026 6pm

Ulung Tanoto, Indonesian musician
Artist Ulung Tanoto: Arranger and multi-instrumentalist.

Ulung Tanoto began his music career as an arranger and multi-instrumentalist in Indonesia, collaborating with numerous leading Indonesian artists and appearing on television programs. He works with a wide range of cultural music projects, including directing Indonesian Kids Performing Arts (IKPA). Using piano, guitar, and selected woodwinds, and a small Jazz ensemble, Ulung infuses Indonesian elements into arrangements and original pieces.

Demola Adepoju: Jazz and Yoruban Rhythms, Dates Coming Soon

Demola Adepoju is a pioneering legend whose work bridges the histories of Nigerian popular music, religious music, and American folk music. As a master of the pedal steel guitar, his historical significance is cemented through his celebrated collaborations with King Sunny Adé and Paul Simon on the iconic album Graceland. Demola is widely recognized as the pioneer of the use of pedal steel in sacred and secular music in Nigeria, a historic innovation that affirms a powerful cultural identity. His unique perspective positions him as a rare and valuable resource for both institutions and students. Using pedal steel guitar, talking drum and and a small Jazz ensemble, Demola weaves melodies with juju music and jazz.
